It was on a short-term mission trip that I was asked one of the best questions I’ve ever been asked as a pastor. It was our last night on the Six Nations Indian Reserve. One discussion that I find myself having on a regular basis with different people is how they just “don’t feel called to missions work”. In our Christian walk we hear so much about callings, and hearing certain calls to serve in one ministry, or another. Since we hear this so much, I can understand why people that I come across have this view of their own ability, or desire to serve in this ministry. So, what does God’s Word say about this? Here at Powerhouse Christian Church we place a very high value on youth & families. We desperately want to see our kids experience the transforming power of Jesus Christ in their lives. One of the main ways we facilitate that encounter is by providing our teens an opportunity to serve the Lord through missions trips. We believe that spiritual growth happens the most in our lives when we are challenged outside of our comfort zone and these trips do just that. If you live in the Bergen County area and know someone who is in 9th-12th grade we would love to invite them to join us this summer as we go and encounter God through serving Him on a missions trip to Oswego, New York. Here are the details for the trip:
Location: Oswego, New York
Dates: June 30 – July 15th
Cost: $1099.00
Trip description: Come to upstate New York and assist Grace and Glory Ministries as they reach out to an impoverished community through discipleship programs, a camping ministry, and community service. Help run their summer camping ministry and assist with various work projects at the camp. Bring hope and encouragement to a local shelter and pregnancy center as you visit with the many children and struggling families in this area.
