Happy Father’s Day!

It’s Father’s Day weekend, and what better way to celebrate than to come out and join your Powerhouse family at one of our Sunday morning services?! The worship team is excited for another week – check out this week’s setlist here! Continue reading

…so much noise!

I’d like to draw your attention to a passage of Scripture that I can’t say I’ve ever really noticed before. Perhaps because it’s tucked away deep inside the Old Testament. It speaks for itself as an example of passionate worship and unashamed emotion over the things that break God’s heart. Two things I believe that can further develop us into fully devoted followers of Christ…. Continue reading

Stand Beside Her and Guide Her

You may not realize that “God Bless America” was first published in 1938. Given this is an unofficial national anthem of sorts, that’s a relatively young age for something so iconic and categorized in most people’s minds as a classic. It’s Memorial Day weekend and we must remember to lift our country and those who defend it up in prayer the way this song has for the past 75 years. Continue reading

Stop and Smell the Roses

…..no, really, I meant it. I want you stop and go outside and take a look at all that is happening around you that you are missing. Spring has sprung, and as the weather gets warmer, the days longer, and the sweet aroma of cook-outs seems to hang in the air each weekend, God is putting on a show through his creation. Continue reading

Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s Mother’s Day weekend and you will not want to miss our worship services tomorrow as we will be hearing from Noel Owuor as he opens up God’s word for a special Mother’s Day message. We will also be honoring the moms in our life, so you will not want to miss this special weekend. I am also excited for our time of worship tomorrow, because…. Continue reading

No One Like Our God

The best worship songs, at their core, are really just prayers. Yesterday, we took part in a National Day of Prayer so I think it’s appropriate we all remind ourselves that when we sing on Sunday morning, we are really singing our prayers. It’s also good to challenge ourselves and ask this hard question: Am I really singing and praying with conviction and expectancy or has an unremarkable routine crept in? Continue reading

Don’t Be Late!

This week, I’d like to encourage all of us to arrive at church for worship a couple minutes early. The worship team is excited to start our time of worship 5 minutes early during our normal countdown, and I think this is a great opportunity to spend some extra time in God’s presence. Continue reading

A Living Sacrifice – Part 2

Last week we began to look at Romans 12:1-2 and discussed how worship is the catalyst for God to begin change in our lives. It leads to a renewing of our mind. This week, let’s go a little further into this passage and discover how this change helps us in our journey through life…. Continue reading

A Living Sacrifice – Part 1

As I write this, I am thinking back on the last 10 years of my life and all the major life events I have gone through and big decisions I have had to make. This year I am turning 30, and I am reminded of all that a person is confronted with in our culture through their 20s. It’s crazy how much stuff happens! In an increasingly godless culture, one often asks how we are to live and what God would have us do with our lives. There is a lot of Scripture that address these questions. We are going to focus on one passage over the next two weeks.  Continue reading

Glory To God

We have all read about the glory of God in Scripture. Psalm 19:1 says “The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky displays his handiwork.” Exodus 15:11 “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you?—majestic in holiness, fearful in praises, working wonders?” It’s easy to picture the glory of God in the physical sense of miracles, awesome displays of nature’s power and agape love. In worship, we often sing about giving glory TO God. Can God’s glory be added to? Obviously not, but what does it mean for us to give glory TO God as Scripture instructs us to? Continue reading
