A Living Sacrifice – Part 1
As I write this, I am thinking back on the last 10 years of my life and all the major life events I have gone through and big decisions I have had to make. This year I am turning 30, and I am reminded of all that a person is confronted with in our culture through their 20s. It’s crazy how much stuff happens! In an increasingly godless culture, one often asks how we are to live and what God would have us do with our lives. There is a lot of Scripture that address these questions. We are going to focus on one passage over the next two weeks. Continue reading

God’s Not Dead
This month at Powerhouse, we are looking at a new song called “God’s Not Dead (Like A Lion)”. Hosea 11:10 says that God will roar like a lion. As we gather each Sunday, let us all be reminded that we are called to worship a God that is ALIVE! Not only is he living, but He moves and speaks with authority and power….like that of a lion. Consider this promise that Jesus offered his disciples in his parting words to them:
I will not abandon you as orphans, I will come to you. In a little while the world will not see me any longer, but you will see me; because I live, you will live too. You will know at that time that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you. (John 14:18-20)
Jesus conquered death and the grave….and He has promised to be with us and not abandon us. As we worship this Sunday, let’s remember that God’s not dead, and he deserves our highest praise. Let’s follow Him together.
Hosanna
Today at Powerhouse, we looked at 2 songs that had us all singing “Hosanna”. So what does this word mean anyway??
While often used as a shout of praise or adoration, Hosanna comes from the Hebrew word meaning please save or save now. For the people in Jerusalem looking for Messiah, how fitting it was for them to shout this as Jesus made his triumphal entry on what we now celebrate as Palm Sunday. The people shouted: Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest! (Mark 11:9-10 NET). If you want to refer back to these two songs along with the others we sang this morning, here’s is today’s setlist…

1. King of Glory (Jesus Culture)
2. Hosanna (Paul Baloche)
3. Glorious Day (Casting Crowns)
4. Lead Me To The Cross (Hillsong)
5. Hosanna (Hillsong)
