At Powerhouse, we value our time of worship on Sunday morning as it is a joyful celebration of God in our lives. Even in life’s difficult times, His presence and faithfulness is something to be excited about. There are times, however, when being a little more reverent before God is appropriate. Good Friday is one of those moments. Continue reading

Easter at Kids Connection
Easter has begun for our kids here at Powerhouse. This past Sunday we had our Easter Egg Hunt. The kids were ready to go with their baskets and enthusiasm. Now from my past experience Easter egg hunts usually end with a few tears. At least one child if not two or three don’t get enough eggs or want the eggs their sister or brother or friend got. Someone usually falls or trips or gets run over by a bigger kid. So as I counted down from ten to let the madness begin, I stopped and told the kids lets pray first for your safety as you go hunting for eggs. Continue reading
Teachers
Coach, guide, mentor, preacher, moralizer these are all synonyms for the word teacher. Every Sunday in our Kids Connection you will meet the people who bring these words to life.
The men, women and young adults that teach our children about God are people strong in their knowledge and faith in God. They are passionate about your kids. They want to help your children grow in their relationship with God. We have one teacher who always wants to bring the Bible to life. When he teaches he leaves nothing on the table. He is a “go big” or “go home” type of person. If he is teaching the story of creation the room will be transformed into the Garden of Eden. I love to watch the children’s spirits come to life as they ready themselves to hear the story. Continue reading
Easter Season at Kids Connection
The Easter season is under way here at Powerhouse’s Kids Connection. This month we are asking the question, “Who is Jesus?” All of our classes are learning about the life of Jesus. Our younger classes are learning about the miracles Jesus performed and the impact they made in His ministry. Our older classes are taking it a step further and learning about the prophecies of the coming Messiah and His ministry. Our kids are learning how every aspect of Jesus’ ministry was very intentional from the prophecies to the parables, to the miracles and the people He chose to share His ministry with. Our kids are opening their eyes and ears to the word. They are leaving church full of the Spirit and with an enthusiasm for their faith and all that it can do for others. God is good and we praise him for our kids and the teachers who minister to them.
Join us every Sunday to learn and live the life Christ wants us to. Our church serves everyone including the towns of Ramsey, Allendale, Wyckoff, Suffern, Mahwah, Oakland, Waldwick, Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Saddle River, and many more towns.
Your Garden of Gethsemane
“My Father, if it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. And yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” Matt 26:39
A few years ago my husband and I went through a lawsuit. It was related to our business, we tried time after time to settle but to no avail, it did not happen. Our trial was set for the spring and with some irony the trial took place over 2 weeks leading into Easter. Each day we would arrive in court and hear our names and reputation put to trial. I remember feeling like I was in the Garden of Gethsemane. I would pray everyday for God to end this nightmare. To stop the suffering, the horrific words, the judgmental stares, and the fear of the unknown. I placed my family and myself at God’s feet. I asked God to give us the faith and strength to get through whatever was going to happen. I don’t believe it was God’s will for us to go through the trial, but it was God’s will for us to trust in Him and know He would get us through. Continue reading

Knowing About God vs. Having God
As we look forward to celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, there are many people who traditionally attend these services even if they do not come to a church service during the rest of the year. If you are reading this, you may be one of them. You have heard the story about how Jesus died on a cross to pay the penalty for your sins. You have heard that Jesus rose from the dead to show that he has authority over death. However, it is possible that you may k
now all about God and what He has done for you, yet not really have God in your life. That can change today. Continue reading
Good Friday Service
Good Friday is the day of remembrance of the death of Jesus Christ for His church. It is called good because of its resulting benefit to all those who put their faith in Christ for salvation. It was not a good day for those who lived through it. In fact it was a
very trying day.
Jesus was arrested the night before on the Mount of Olives and spent a long night being harassed and taunted by one official after another. Did you know that over the next 24 hours Jesus had no less than…. Continue reading
Crisis of Belief
The fifth reality mentioned by Henry Blackaby in Experiencing God is Crisis of Belief. When God speaks to us it almost always leads to a crisis of belief, or a choice as to whether we will exercise faith in whatever or wherever He is leading us.
The Bible tells us that, “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that… Continue reading
He is Alive
Easter season is the most sacred time of the year for the Christian Church. It is at Easter that we celebrate the very essence of our faith – that we have a future hope because Jesus rose from the dead. The Apostle Paul made a very startling statement about the resurrection of Jesus as it relates to us. He said…. Continue reading
