I Hear Him In My Dreams

As the director of Kids Connection here at Powerhouse Church, I  pray to the Lord to show me signs that we are doing His will. I ask God to use our teaching staff and me and let God speak to the children through us. Continue reading

What is Our Mission in Missions?

One discussion that I find myself having on a regular basis with different people is how they just “don’t feel called to missions work”.  In our Christian walk we hear so much about callings, and hearing certain calls to serve in one ministry, or another.  Since we hear this so much, I can understand why people that I come across have this view of their own ability, or desire to serve in this ministry.  So, what does God’s Word say about this?  Before I answer this question, let’s look to two people who know a great deal about serving the Kingdom in this way.  Continue reading

Hearing God

If you are attending our CLASS on the Holy Spirit at Powerhouse Christian Church in Wyckoff, NJ at 9 am on Sundays, we will be addressing the topic of the Holy Spirit being “Our Guide for the Journey” this coming Sunday.  We will cover many practical, biblical examples of how the Holy Spirit spoke to members of the early church–and the types of topics about which God spoke to them.  As a preparation, or as a follow-up, I have a book to recommend on how God speaks to us. Adjust Your Life

Don’t Let Your Circumstances Determine Your Next Step

In my last post I covered the 5th Reality of Experiencing God mentioned by Henry Blackaby in his book Experiencing God.  When God speaks to us He often gives us a directive that must be obeyed if we want to experience Him.  The difficulty however, is that the directive often requires us to step out of our comfort zone and presents us with a difficult choice… Continue reading

Good Friday Service

Good Friday is the day of remembrance of the death of Jesus Christ for His church.  It is called good because of its resulting benefit to all those who put their faith in Christ for salvation.  It was not a good day for those who lived through it.  In fact it was a very trying day.

Jesus was arrested the night before on the Mount of Olives and spent a long night being harassed and taunted by one official after another.  Did you know that over the next 24 hours Jesus had no less than…. Continue reading

Crisis of Belief

The fifth reality mentioned by Henry Blackaby in Experiencing God is Crisis of Belief.  When God speaks to us it almost always leads to a crisis of belief, or a choice as to whether we will exercise faith in whatever or wherever He is leading us.

The Bible tells us that, “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that… Continue reading

God Speaks

The fourth reality of Experiencing God from Henry Blackaby’s book, Experiencing God, is that we must understand and believe that God speaks to His people.  There is evidence of this all over the Bible as well as by personal testimony of Christians everywhere.

The very opening chapters of Genesis show God … Continue reading

Invitation

Mexico School Students

In previous blogs I shared the first two of seven realities of Experiencing God as articulated by Henry Blackaby in his book Experiencing God.  Today, we come to the third reality, which is that God invites you and I to become involved with Him in His work.

God is always at work all around us.  What is He at work doing? He is at work accomplishing… Continue reading

God at Work

It's All About God

The first of the seven realities of experiencing God is to realize that God is at work all around us, all of the time.  Jesus said in John 5:17, “My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I, too, am working.”  So many times we start out to do a great work for God and we ask Him to bless it.  Our prayer should first be… Continue reading

Experiencing God’s Power

To impact people with the love and power of Jesus Christ in order to develop them into fully devoted followers of Christ.  This is our mission statement here at Powerhouse Christian Church, but what does it really mean? Continue reading
